Ad Folks Hate Ads but Love Whiskey and Porn. What Does PR Love?

Did you know that people who work in advertising are almost twice as likely to press “mute” when ads come on, or that most wish people would just stop posting about Cannes on Facebook already? God!!!

In this week’s cheekiest clip from the other side of the promo game, ad agency Lowe Roche celebrated winning some award that we don’t care about by creating a 90-second tribute to all the things ad people love and hate:

It’s pretty funny, and it got us thinking: why isn’t there a PR version?

Contrary to what some people think, our lives aren’t all shoes, product launch parties and chocotinis. And we don’t traffic in stereotypes on this blog, so we decided to make our own little list.

PR people love:

  • Obsessing over journalists and their fascinating lives re-writing our clients’ press releases.
  • Telling bloggers how much we love their work (eye roll).
  • Scrolling through our inboxes for any stray press releases: Delete. Delete. Block. Delete…
  • Reading official apologies and laughing because we know exactly who wrote that one line.
  • Watching other people’s clients being interviewed…so we can make fun of their terrible outfits.
  • Giving people our honest opinions about our co-workers.
  • Going to parties so we can say “Meh. I’d do it better.”
  • Posing for pictures at events…so we can delete them from our Facebook walls the next day.
  • White wine or mimosas in the afternoon, because we’re still totally working.
  • Generous cocktails—because whiskey is for slow, savory sipping, and we need to get the job done.
  • Two words: Happy. Hour.
