Amy Winehouse: Perform Locally, Think Globally

As we all know by now, Amy Winehouse won big last night at the Grammy Awards. Despite having her work visa denial overturned, the troubled songstress decided to stay at home in the UK and perform live from a studio.

Winehouse spokesman Chris Goodman told the NY Times:

“Unfortunately, due to the logistics involved and timing complications, Amy will not be traveling to the U.S. to perform at the Grammys in person.”

Right. Logistics. Hey, we can’t say we blame him though. We can imagine Winehouse, and her team took some delight in refusing to jump at the chance to fly to LA last minute after her initial work visa application was denied.

Somehow, PRNewser is reminded of a quote from Mugatu (Will Ferrell) in the movie Zoolander: “Ages, and ages. You’ve been around for a long, long time and I never wanted anything from you. And now you’re retired, I can’t have you. And it’s funny how it switches like that. But now the forbidden fruit must be tasted.”

The forbidden fruit of a Winehouse performance was tasted last night, albeit from afar.
