AOL PR Chief Tricia Primrose Leaving After 13 Years

AOL EVP, Corporate Communications Tricia Primose Wallace is leaving the company after thirteen years, according to an internal memo from AOL CEO Tim Armstrong obtained by AllThingsD.

Primrose is one of the last of the “old guard” of AOL executives who were around before Armstrong took the reins as CEO. Kara Swisher of AllThingsD said that she will miss Wallace’s “consummate professionalism throughout some decidedly dicey times.” She will remain with the company in an advisory role.

The memo from Armstrong noted that Primrose was commuting to New York for part of each work week from Virgina, where her family lives and where the company used to be based.

Armstrong also noted in the memo, “We will be opening an external and internal search for a successor.”

Primrose’s move follows that of other AOL PR executives. In April, Kurt Patat left his post as communications director and headed to Viacom’s MTV. Matthew Frankel, formerly svp for corporate communications, joined Current Media in May.

The relatively new additions to AOL’s PR team include Kiersten Hollars, who joined in November 2009 from Digg and Caroline Campbell, who joined in September 2009 from Porter Novelli.
