Dana Perino Remembers Tony Snow, One Year Later

090706_snow_reuters_223.jpg

It’s been one year since former White House Press Secretary and Fox News anchor Tony Snow died of colon cancer. His replacement Dana Perino, George W. Bush’s 4th and final press secretary has a one-year remembrance of Snow in Politico today, foibles and all. Perino is now chief issues councelor at Burson-Marsteller as of April.

We agree Snow had star quality and flamboyance not often seen in the press room, and it only makes sense it didn’t wring his hands over details very much. He apparently lost his wallet and blackberry all the time, and couldn’t choose a tie to save his life. There is little detail about the job itself except for Perino reinforcing her rep as a 24/7 grinder, and how they had Snow hit the phones to work the conservative radio stations to explain the administration’s immigration policy.

She also remembers the day he passed the baton: “You are better at this than you think you are.”
