<title>Survey: Many Americans Still In Favor of Nuclear Power</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-18425" title="nuclear towers" src="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/files/2011/03/nuclear-towers1.jpg" alt="" />The nuclear power industry might be coming <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/nuclear-power-industry-puts-up-a-pr-fight-in-the-face-of-growing-fears_b17990">under close scrutiny</a> because of the ongoing problems at Japan&#8217;s Fukushima Daiichi plant, but a survey conducted by Harris Interactive and HealthDay have found that Americans haven&#8217;t changed their outlook about nuclear power plants and nuclear energy.</p>
<p>The poll found that 41 percent of participants are in favor of building  nuclear power plants here in the U.S. while 39 percent were opposed. (<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/13/weekinreview/13nimby.html?scp=1&amp;sq=nimby&amp;st=cse">Another</a> bit of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NIMBY">NIMBYism</a>, eh?) Three years ago, 49 percent of respondents were in favor.</p>
<p>The study also found that 73 percent of respondents think nuclear waste disposal is a problem, 55 percent think nuclear power is necessary because it doesn&#8217;t contribute to climate change like other energy resources, and 29 percent think that nuclear plants are &#8220;very safe.&#8221;</p>
<p>Harris Interactive polled 2,090 adults over the age of 18 between March 23 and 25.</p>

<title>Japanese Animal Rescue Organization Seeking PR Help</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-18401" title="jears" src="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/files/2011/03/jears2.jpg" alt="" width="275" height="360" />Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support, an organization founded in the days after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami struck Japan, is seeking pro bono PR help here in the U.S. According to <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Bill-Gabbard-profile.html">Bill Gabbard</a></strong>, an administrative coordinator for the organization, they&#8217;re hoping for a one-month commitment that would only require a few hours per week.</p>
<p>The organization, a coalition of three animal shelters located in Japan,  has been helping stranded pets that have been left behind as owners flee stricken parts of the country and reuniting pets with owners.</p>
<p>Gabbard told us that the organization already has a well-organized <a href="http://www.jears.org/">website</a>, <a href="http://www.facebook.com/AnimalRescueJapan">Facebook page</a>, and <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/NotWoAnimals">Twitter account</a>. The group gathers stories, videos, and the latest developments using these platforms, however, they would like to conduct outreach to target media and potential donors.</p>

<p>A couple of weeks ago, we said that <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/publicist-request-leads-to-aol-drama_b17418">making outsized requests</a> to reporters about the stories they&#8217;re working on is a bad idea after a film company&#8217;s grumble about the tone of a Moviefone story turned into an AOL dustup. After reading a few recent stories, it looks like big demands are becoming more common.</p>
<p>During his mea culpa for pitching a fit at the <em>GMA </em>studios, <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Chris-Brown-profile.html">Chris Brown</a></strong> said that it&#8217;s normal for he and his team to submit talking points to a potential interviewer. If the interviewer doesn&#8217;t agree with the talking points, <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/chris-brown-admits-that-transparency-isnt-one-of-his-talking-points_b18010">Brown will take a pass</a>. (In that case, <em>GMA </em>said it received no talking points.)</p>

<title>GetGlue Redesigns and Revamps</title>

<p>Much of GetGlue&#8217;s focus thus far has been on <a href="http://www.adweek.com/aw/content_display/news/digital/e3i51bf1a40ea91f2358075a67575816bdc">TV programs</a>. As part of the redesign, the site will now have a sports check-in button with rewards for those who check-in at games from home or other locations. And there will be rewards for sports fans.</p>
