On the one hand, this newly leaked “trailer” for the third season of the breakout PBS hit “Downton Abbey” is clearly a bootleg, so we can’t imagine that the channel’s PR folks are too happy about it. On the other hand, it will help build buzz for a show that has become the showboat of the “Masterpiece Classics” franchise–the season two finale placed second in the ratings game behind a certain obscure broadcast known as The Super Bowl despite the fact that Sherlock Holmes himself called it “f**king atrocious” (sounds like somebody’s a little jealous).

So, let’s review (SPOILER ALERT if you’re not caught up with the series to date).

Bates still in jail? Check. Maggie Smith still hilarious? Check. Matthew and Mary still deeply in love? Not so much. Downton estate still ridiculously wealthy? Uh oh.

So what do you think? Does this little snippet make you anxious to see what the future holds for the Granthams and the Crowleys? Bad news: Season three won’t air in the US until January 2013. In the meantime, we can all keep ourselves busy speculating about what Shirley MacLaine will wear.
