USC/Ketchum Survey: PR Out Of Sych With How People Use MediaA new survey released by Ketchum and the University of Southern California Annenberg Strategic Public Relations Center shows how out of touch communications pros are with how people consume media. We could've told you that ourselves, but we don't have the data to prove it! One of the key findings of the survey is that family and friends are the No. 1 source people look to, "when making a variety of decisions - ranging from purchasing consumer electronics to planning a vacation." This brings us back to our days doing music PR. How many times have you gone to see a band because of a flier on the street or an article in the local paper? We'd guess not many. Usually it's a friend telling you, "You MUST go to this show!" This is why Myspace and other social media applications are huge for the music industry, they allow that word of mouth to spread much faster and to a larger audience.
