We dropped by Gawker video guy Richard Blakely's Media Meshing event last night in Soho.

The conversation seemed to contain variations on the following themes: "Blah Blah, platform, blah blah blah community, blah blah, social network, blah blah web startup, blah blah beta, blah blah pitching a book."

And we say that with the best of intentions. We had a good time, spoke to some cool people, and maybe even achieved one of the "Why Should You Go?" objectives: Meet new people you can poach for easy quotes.

"Everyone here is really young," one editor told us. "Exactly, none of these jobs pay," I responded.

The only PR person we spoke with among the "new media" heavy crowd was our buddy Chris Faile, PR Manager at Deloitte.
