According to The Wrap, when police approached the man in the building lobby to speak with him, he backed away and shot himself.
Beverly Hills Police Department Lt. Tony Lee gave a press conference at 10p.m. last night in front of the Santa Monica Boulevard apartment hotel where police were close to serving a search warrant before the shocking turn of events. Police describe the man that the L.A. Times blog says was an ex-convict named Harold as a “person of interest.”
ABC News reports that the preliminary coroner’s report indicates that Chasen’s killer was an “expert marksman.”
Chasen’s funeral was held on November 21.
