Perhaps the master of self promtion - at least in recent memory - Time Out New York dating columnist, former Star magazine TV talking head and potential reality show star Julia Allison was recently interviewed by PRWeek's Aarthi Shah. (Did we mention Julia was once a mediabistro intern?)

Some of Julia's thoughts on PR:

I've never had PR help. But recently me, [and my NonSociety co-founders] for the first time, we visited some PR firms. And I know I've probably made every PR mistake in the book. A lot of things that PR reps probably would have told me not to do, I've done. So I'm not saying that I'd necessarily advise people to take my route because it's had incredible personal consequences.
