MYSPACE APPOINTS ROSABEL TAO SVP OF CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

Tao to Lead MySpace’s Global PR and Communications Strategy

LOS ANGELES – August 16, 2010 – MySpace today announced the appointment of Rosabel Tao to the role of senior vice president of Corporate Communications. Effective Aug. 30, Tao will oversee all global external and internal communications for MySpace. In this role, she will be responsible for leading public relations strategy, messaging and priorities across MySpace’s international territories and building communications programs to support key business objectives beginning with the company’s upcoming redesign. Tao will be based at MySpace headquarters in Beverly Hills.

“Rosabel is an accomplished strategist who has an exceptional track record of building and guiding brands through periods of revitalization,” Said MySpace President, Mike Jones. “With her deep knowledge of the technology, media and advertising spaces and her diverse background in communications, I know that her vision and counsel will prove invaluable. I’m thrilled to welcome her to our executive team.”

Tao brings two decades of experience in designing and orchestrating multi-disciplinary programs for a broad portfolio of companies – from global brands to start-ups.

“MySpace is a globally recognizable consumer brand and I’m excited to draw on the company’s legacy and take the brand to the next level,”said Tao. “This is a unique window of time for the company and I strongly believe we have a wonderful opportunity to reintroduce to consumers the innovative qualities of MySpace that made it the original pioneer in social media.”

Most recently, Tao was the principal of a private communications consulting practice focusing on companies at the intersection of media and technology, with a client list that included Current Media, PopSugar Media, Spot Runner and REVShare.

Prior to founding her own consulting firm, Tao held a number of executive roles on both the client and agency sides. She served as the vice president of Corporate Communications at Spot Runner for four years. As an early team member in this technology start-up, Tao was the architect behind the company’s highly successful launch in 2006. She also served as a senior vice president of Corporate Communications for the consumer division at Bank of America; during which time Tao created and executed the launch of the bank’s then-largest retail expansion in its history in 15 states.

Earlier in her career, Tao worked for several of the world’s top public relations agencies in senior leadership positions, including Golin Harris as a senior vice president, Weber Shandwick as a vice president and Fleishman-Hillard as an Account Supervisor. Her clients included top brands, such as HP, Microsoft, Levi Strauss, Safeway, Schwab, KPMG Peat Marwick, Oakland Raiders and many others.

Tao holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Psychology from U.C. Davis.
