It’s not every day a PR person lands on the cover of the New York Post. Bonnie Hoxie, executive assistant to Disney head of corporate communications Zenia Mucha, was arrested yesterday with her accomplice, Hollywood coffee shop owner Yonni Sebbag. The two were nabbed in an FBI sting for attempting to sell company secrets to hedge funds. The Post ran emails documented in the SEC filing about Hoxie’s love of expensive shoes, hence the pun.
Like the Golden Goose scandal, the Hoxie arrest brings attention the potential damage a leaky PR department can do. This flap could change the direction and timing of Disney’s rumored sale of ABC TV. TVNewser has more, including the company’s statement on the matter.
