Killing the Story: Google CIO To EMI
John Furrier was the first to report that Google CIO Douglas Merrill was leaving the company to become president of record label EMI. John let it be known on Twitter that TechCrunch didn't give him any link love when running the story. He also reports this: People within EMI are saying that they are lining up mainstream media exclusives for tomorrow either NY Times or WSJ and want to kill all blog coverage. Interesting. The story is all over the blogosphere now, in addition to the Times, so it seems no opportunity was lost for the EMI PR team. That being said, has a blog leak ever killed your "mainstream" exclusive? Is that even necessarily a bad thing? Could a flurry of blog activity give your story even more attention than a single story in the NYT or WSJ? Email This Post |
