Note to PR Pros: Don’t Cancel on ‘Meet the Press’

The Sunday morning news show’s Executive Producer Betsy Fischer said Senate nominee Rand Paul (R-KY) is only the third cancellation from a major guest in 62 years.
Paul was scheduled to appear on the show the show yesterday, but cancelled, after Republican operatives told him that he was generating too much controversy.
Host David Gregory ended the segment about Paul with the following statement: “There are questions about his principles left unanswered…whether this fresh new face in politics is a now a weaker candidate than he was Tuesday night.”
Paul’s spokesperson is Jesse Benton, who also was communications director for his father Ron Paul‘s presidential campaign.
