Obama Will Risk Overexposure to Reach the People

Over the weekend, we gave you a sneak preview of President Obama‘s visit to Steve Kroft and 60 Minutes. Our colleagues at TVNewser have the complete hour-long interview, which includes a question about the criticism President Obama has gotten for appearances on TV shows that range from news programs to The View. Kroft says that some think it trivializes the presidency.

“It used to be a president could call a press conference, the three major networks would come, he’d talk to them, and you pretty much reached everyone in America,” the President responds, adding that viewers have fragmented across a variety of information sources.

“I’ve got to adapt the presidency to reach as many people as possible in as many settings as possible so they can hear directly from me.”
