Publicis Consultants, part of MSLGroup, has named Michael Echter director of client engagement and growth. Echter was previously the new business lead for MSL New York, and will continue to be based in NYC. He joined the firm in 2000.
Twitter founders Biz Stone and Evan Williams, as well as Jason Goldman, a Twitter executive, are stepping away from the day-to-day at the microblogging company in order to relaunch The Obvious Corporation, which will focus on issues like those facing nonprofits. Obvious was started to purchase failed start ups and spawned Twitter.
Jaclyn Grossfield has joined Carmichael Lynch Spong as a social media specialist working on the Sherwin-Williams, Martek Biosciences, and Jack Link’s Beef Jerky accounts. She was previously a social media specialist at Noodles & Company, a Colorado company. She will now be based in Minneapolis.
PR firm Indicate Media has launched in New York City (its HQ) and South Florida. The firm will offer media relations, digital campaigns, CSR programs, branding, and other services. The firm will be led by Todd Barrish, who was previously MD of LaunchSquad’s New York office. The firm has four clients in the technology, energy, and entertainment areas.
New York Women in Communications has announced its 2011-2012 board of directors. As previously reported, Catherine Mathis, SVP of marketing and communications at the S&P has been appointed president. Joining her are Nancy Weber, EVP and CMO of Meredith Corporation as president elect; Erin Matts, global director of digital connections at AB InBev as secretary; and Leslie Hunt, director of the Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center & The Media Program at Columbia Business School as VP and treasure.
