Roll Call: SparkPR, Schwartz Media Strategies and The Marshall Project

SparkPR announced the appointment of six prominent executives within its New York and San Francisco offices who are leading new practice areas and further diversifying Sparkpr’s service offerings. Sparkpr has hired and promoted the following executives to take the helm of new practice or service areas in the New York office: Jay Kolbe, managing director, Digital Ad/Marketing; Gregory Papajohn, managing director, Financial Tech & Social Innovation; Linda Chung, director, Broadcast Relations. In San Francisco, new practice areas have recently launched with the hiring of the following executives: Tim Donovan, managing director, Enterprise Tech; Yvette Lorenz-Machlan, managing director, Consumer Tech; Remi Adams, managing director, Health & Wellness. Schwartz Media Strategies has named vice president Aaron Gordon a partner. Gordon joined Schwartz Media Strategies in early 2008 and has since been instrumental in expanding the firm’s capabilities and client base in key practice areas reflecting the sectors driving Florida’s economy, including real estate, banking, technology, finance, hospitality, law, municipal affairs and arts and culture. He has led several new business initiatives and helps create and manage media relations, marketing and digital media campaigns. Gabriel Dance, the award-winning interactive editor of The Guardian U.S., will join The Marshall Project as managing editor in charge of digital journalism. In his work for The Guardian, and earlier for The New York Times, Dance has won or shared in the highest honors awarded to visual and interactive journalism. They include an Emmy and an Alfred L. Dupont award in 2011 for the story of a year at war with a single infantry unit deployed in Afghanistan; several Online News Association awards; six awards from Malofiej, the premier information graphics competition; and six from the Society for News Design. Dance’s interactive contribution to The Guardian’s coverage of National Security Agency surveillance has won the highest award from the Society for News Design and a World Press Photo award.
