Rubenstein, HarperCollins Vets Team Up to Form Orange PR & Marketing

orange prTwo communications veterans have joined forces, combining their passions for both midtown Manhattan and Georgia’s oldest, most graceful city to launch Orange PR & Marketing.

The agency, which will have offices in New York and Savannah, promises to offer something a little different to a range of clients.

Some background: Andy Shearer spent ten years at Rubenstein Communications, where he served as SVP and worked on a series of lifestyle and entertainment events running the gamut from New Year’s Eve in Times Square and TIME Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” gala to Madonna’s series of children’s books and the “Larry the Cable Guy” films. He also has a long history in the theatrical world including stints on productions by playwrights such as Arthur Miller and Stephen Sondheim.

Brianne Halverson worked as director of publicity at HarperCollins before leaving to start Orange with Shearer. At Harper, Halverson handled the accounts of best-selling novelists like Elmore Leonard (“Get Shorty”) and Dennis Lehane (“Mystic River”) as well as celebrity authors like Emeril Lagasse, Guy Fieri and Dwyane Wade.

The two met while working as directors of publicity at the legendary Savannah College of Art and Design; their client base will be national, with a focus on the Southeast and New York areas.

Shearer tells us that, while the two are both New Yorkers at heart, they love Savannah and want to keep a presence there.

Halverson says:

“Savannah is an incubator for talent and special innovations. Hiding behind all that Spanish moss and pre-Civil War architecture is an extraordinarily creative artistic and business community whose stories should be shared.”

Shearer explains the company’s name:

“Orange is a mix of the energy and passion of red—the New York in us—and the joy and happiness of yellow; that’s the Savannah in us.

That’s the message we want to get across; we bring both fire and calm to our clients. Plus, orange doesn’t rhyme with anything. It’s completely unique, as are we.”

The agency’s first clients include Savannah Fashion Week and designer Bonnie Marcus.
