Russia’s bid committee for the 2020 World Expo, Ekaterinburg 2020, has chosen Weber Shandwick for its global campaign. Weber has previously worked on successful World Expo campaigns for Shanghai (2010) and Milan (2015) and worked with another Russian city, Sochi, in its successful bid for the 2014 Winter Olympics. The Russian city of Ekaterinburg is competing against Thailand, Dubai, Turkey, and São Paulo. The decision will be announced in 2013.
