Sweet Pea Kitchens, an Oregon bakery responsible for “homemade, gluten free, all natural dog treats”, has retained Paws PR, the pet-centric division of P Jones Communications Inc. with offices in New York and Baltimore. Paws will work on a national re-launch including a new logo and packaging design as well as strategic communications consulting surrounding the brand’s expansion into the wholesale market.

The origin story is every bit as good as expected: after a vet put mother-daughter team Maureen and Devon Lake’s labradoodle Keira on a strict diet, they started baking their own alternative to store-bought treats and eventually founded their own company.

No word yet on how much more adorable the dogs that eat Sweet Pea products will grow up to be, but we’ll be the first to let you know as soon as we can pull ourselves away from the Emergency Puppy Twitter feed.

The town of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota hired Carmichael Lynch Spong from a 14-firm lineup in an ongoing effort to “kick [its] high-crime reputation and improve its branding.”

The move followed a lengthy political debate, and CLS spoke of “an inside-out approach” that would start with educating the town’s residents about the suburb’s best qualities and eventually lead to rising property values. We’re not sure what the campaign will entail, but as we live in Brooklyn and love parks we think the town already has at least one great asset.

Environics Communications signed as PR AOR for The American Chemical Society’s Green Chemistry Institute. The ACS, a non-profit created by the US Congress, incorporated the CGI in 1997 to raise public awareness of the fact that chemistry can indeed be quite green. Environics will conduct an extensive survey to measure consumer sentiment before developing a strategy to promote green initiatives within the pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturer’s and formulator’s industries. (The words “breaking” and “bad” will presumably not appear together in the campaign.)

Samsung added Mighty PR to its agency roster. Though neither company would comment on this Holmes Report story, it’s understood that Mighty will handle “media relations, especially around product launches, developer outreach and social media” in taking over for MWW.

Outdoor sporting goods company Cabela’s retained Olson Engage as its PR AOR to handle national communications. Engage is the recently rebranded PR wing of the Olson ad agency based in Minneapolis, where it’s so cold that wearing Cabela’s is never a fashion statement.
