Spin the Agencies of Record

Bangkok

  • Cohn & Wolfe opened a new, wholly-owned office in Bangkok, Thailand in order to “offer full coverage across Southeast Asia in advance of the much-anticipated official formation of the ASEAN Economic Community”. Doug Buemi, vice chairman and regional director for Asia Pacific, will lead the office, which will focus on digital and social media for both consumer and B2B clients.

  • New Jersey’s DXagency will be AOR for Dr. Schär, USA, a leading producer of gluten-free products. The agency will handle everything from social media to direct marketing and ad buys/campaigns. We took the opportunity to remind ourselves that gluten-free beats sugar-free every time.
  • allen & gerritsen, which recently expanded its PR offering, will be AOR for Sesame Workshop. The firm will help promote the non-profit’s community initiatives…and hopefully advise it to stay away from Toyota ads.
  • Hong Kong-based real estate brokerage site OKAY.com went with Edelman as its agency of record as it expands into China. On a side note, what does “media relations” mean when the state effectively owns all media?
  • Indra Public Relations of New York City signed frozen yogurt company Jala Bars as its newest client. And yes, before you consider suing: that yogurt is more Greek than Liz Lemon.
  • Salt Lake City’s Method Communications expanded into La La Land with its acquisition of Kindling Communications, a tech-focused boutique firm. Method also established a San Francisco office in February; no word from Method reps on whether they favor the dark desert highways and the cool wind in their hair.
