Stanley Bing on “9 Reasons Why People Leak to the Media”

stanleybing.jpg

Stanley Bing, aka the pen name of CBS EVP, Corporate Communications Gil Schwartz, looks at why people leak to the media in his latest column for Fortune. The number one reason, according to Bing:

They have a serious legal or ethical concern about some activity of their company, and feel it can only be redressed with the help of the media.

Not known to mince words, Bing gets a bit more hard hitting with number five on his list:

They are powerless little weenies who want to appear more important than they are for the five minutes they are at the center of the information transaction.

Tell us how you really feel, Gil!
