Survey: Almost Half of Journalists Use Facebook and LinkedIn To Assist in Reporting

Always wonder just how much reporters are using social media tools to gather sources or background information for their stories? The Society for New Communications Research and Middleberg Communications recently released a survey to shine additional light on this question.

Among the 160 print, broadcast, and online journalists who responded, 48% use LinkedIn, and 45% use Facebook to assist in reporting. 68% use blogs to keep up on issues or topics of interest. 86% of all use company websites, 71% use Wikipedia, and 46% use blogs to research an individual organization.

The survey was developed by SNCR Fellows in conjunction with TWI Surveys. For complete survey results, click here.
