Golin Drops the ‘Harris,’ Adds The Hoff

You may have heard this week’s news that the former GolinHarris is dropping its married name to “Go All In” after a 2011 “g4″ restructuring that transformed the firm “from a hierarchy of generalists to communities of specialists.

Here’s Al Golin himself telling CommPro that–organizational shifts aside–he’s glad to be around to continue “enjoy[ing] the notoriety.”

We have to confess, though, that we were compelled to click primarily by mentions of the man once kept afloat by Pamela Anderson’s buoys: David Hasselhoff.

Roll Call: Burberry, C&W, Al Golin, and more

We didn’t get the Roll Call column up yesterday, so here’s the belated Wednesday column.

Jenna Littler has been promoted to Burberry‘s VP of PR and corporate relations, a new title at the company that brings together the fashion and corporate PR functions. Littler joined the company two years ago to build the corporate relations function. She was previously with the business consulting company McKinsey & Company. She’ll be working out of Burberry’s London HQ.

Tshepo Matseba has been elected the president of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa. Matseba is a 33-year-old corporate comms strategist and was recently named the head of marketing for a company called Discovery. [via AllAfrica]

GolinHarris Launches New Agency Model

GolinHarris has introduced g4, the firm’s new global agency model designed to function in a digital and social media world. With the model, the firm will be changing its business over the next decade, providing services not just in earned media but, according to the firm’s president and CEO Fred Cook, “equally distributed” across earned, shared, owned, and purchased media.

“If you started an agency today, you wouldn’t structure it the way a traditional firm is structured,” Cook told PRNewser as he was heading out to join the firm’s day of community service to celebrate founder Al Golin‘s birthday. “We felt we had to move to something a little more streamlined and in tune with what’s happening in the outside world.”

GolinHarris Celebrates Al Golin’s Birthday with Community Service

Global agency GolinHarris wrapped up “Al’s Day” this week with 150 people from their Chicago headquarters joining Friends of the Parks to do a bit of community service (above). The second annual event marks founder Al Golin‘s 81st birthday. Over the past two weeks, employees from Golin’s Dallas, Dubai, Frankfurt, Los Angeles and Singapore offices have partnered with local non-profits to give back a little of their time.
