<title>PitchEngine/Cision Partnership Ends, Both Have New Services To Offer</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright  wp-image-66461" title="pitchengine" src="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/files/2013/06/pitchengine1.jpg" alt="" width="349" height="250" />The partnership between <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/PitchEngine-profile.html">PitchEngine</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Cision-profile.html">Cision</a></strong>, which began in 2011, has ended, with PitchEngine announcing plans for what CEO Jason Kintzler says is &#8220;a new kind of content distribution and deployment.&#8221;</p>
<p>Cision customers no longer have access to PitchEngine&#8217;s <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/cision-pitchengine-klout-bing-twitter-groupon_b26981">social media publishing services</a>. However, in the <a href="http://new.pitchengine.com/pitches/8b90f1a5-b378-4b74-ad34-699b67c124f0">press statement</a>, Kintzler says, &#8220;Cision was notified of this change back in December, so there shouldn&#8217;t be any surprises&#8221;). <title>Cision Says Dow Jones Settlement is Part of a &#8216;Bigger Issue&#8217;</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p><img class="size-full wp-image-39226 alignleft" title="cision logo" src="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/files/2012/06/cision-logo3.jpg" alt="" width="219" height="69" /><strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Cision-profile.html">Cision</a></strong>&#8216;s North American CEO <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Peter-Granat-profile.html">Peter Granat</a></strong> says the settlement that the media data and analytics company has reached with <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Dow-Jones-Company-profile.html">Dow Jones &amp; Company</a></strong> is part of a &#8220;bigger issue&#8221; that impacts other service providers and PR pros.</p>
<p>In a phone call with PRNewser today, Granat says it has started working with licensing bodies here in the U.S. to avoid issues like the one that spurred the Dow Jones case.</p>
<p>Yesterday, <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/dow-jones-and-cision-reach-a-settlement_b39183">Dow Jones announced</a> that it had reached a settlement with Cision for an undisclosed though &#8220;significant&#8221; sum of money. Dow Jones claimed that Cision had engaged in the “unauthorized reproduction, distribution, and other misuse of news content” from <em>The Wall Street Journal</em>, <em>Barron’s</em>, and <em>SmartMoney </em>magazines.</p>
<p>&#8220;Rights management and licensing will have to be put in place in a more formal structure,&#8221; Granat told us.</p>

<title>Dow Jones and Cision Reach a Settlement</title>

<p><strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Dow-Jones-Company-profile.html">Dow Jones &amp; Company</a></strong> has reached a settlement with <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Cision-profile.html">Cision</a></strong> over a copyright infringement claim against the Sweden-based media monitoring, data, and analysis company. The original claim was Dow Jones&#8217; response to what it says was &#8220;unauthorized reproduction, distribution, and other misuse of news content&#8221; that it publishes. Without going into the details, Dow Jones says Cision paid a &#8220;significant amount&#8221; to settle the issue.</p>
<p><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-39188" title="cision logo" src="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/files/2012/06/cision-logo2.jpg" alt="" width="219" height="69" />Cision is not redistributing Dow Jones content anymore, but rather directing users to the Dow Jones sites. The content in question came from <em>The Wall Street Journal</em>, <em>Barron’s</em>, and <em>SmartMoney </em>magazines.</p>
<p>“This settlement is another reminder that only paying customers enjoy full access to Dow Jones’ highly valuable journalism, and anyone who free rides on our content will face serious financial repercussions,&#8221; said Dow Jones GC Mark Jackson in a statement. Damn!</p>
<p>The issue has been settled without litigation. We&#8217;ve been in touch with Cision for comment.</p>

<title>Cision Introduces a New Search Tool, Loses European CEO</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p><strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Cision-profile.html"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-35254" title="cision logo" src="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/files/2012/03/cision-logo.jpg" alt="" width="192" height="72" />Cision</a></strong> has introduced the <a href="http://us.cision.com/news_room/press_releases/2012/2012-03-08-new-social-influencer.asp">Social Influencer Search</a>, a new keyword search tool that allows users to seek out social media posts and blogs on a specific topic. Information can be further sorted by location, beat, and other categories. Users will also be able to identify the most influential reporters on the keyword topic and gather contact info and background information.</p>
<p>The company also announced that its European CEO, <strong><a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/Yann-Blandy-profile.html">Yann Blandy</a></strong>, is leaving the company at the end of Q2 to become the CEO of <a href="http://www.intellecta.net/">Intellecta</a>, a science and technology educational resource company. He&#8217;s been with the company for six years. In a <a href="http://www.canada.com/entertainment/Cision+Europe+Yann+Blandy+leave+Cision/6275078/story.html">statement</a>, the company says it will have a replacement by the time of Blandy&#8217;s departure.</p>
<p>Just a couple of weeks ago, it was announced that <a href="http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/roll-call-cision-kraft-360-public-relations-and-more_b34344">North American CEO Joe Bernardo</a> was leaving the company.</p>

The site says some users could see their scores drop after the changes, but it&#8217;s a sacrifice for accuracy.</p>

<title>Ad Tracking Firm Snaps Up VMS SVP, 10 Others</title>

She&#8217;s now an SVP with Competitrack.</p>
<p>&#8220;There were lots of discussions with senior management about the possibilities,&#8221; said Stubin, talking about the final months at VMS during which the company weighed its business options.
