‘Newsroom’ Star’s Topless Tweet: A PR Stunt?

We always (read: never) count on New York’s Daily News to deliver the hardest-hitting stories, and today they brought the bacon! The morning’s top gossip concerns Alison Pillan actress currently starring in HBO‘s “The Newsroom“–and a little accident she had yesterday…

After using her Twitter feed to jump on the NBC hate train and call the network out for airing the now-infamous Kris Jenner breast implant interview during Tuesday’s 9/11 moment of silence, Pill accidentally sent a topless photo of herself to more than 20,000 followers.

Pill quickly retracted the tweet and apologized, blaming her lack of tech savvy and claiming that she had intended to delete the offending pic. Fiancé and human beanpole Jay Baruchel played down the drama, tweeting: “My fiancée is an hilarious dork. #imjustgladitdidnthappentomefirst. Smartphones will get ya.”

Revolving Door: AOL, HuffPo, NY ‘Daily News,’ and More

The lead story this afternoon on HuffPo Science.

AOL is partnering with Bonnier’s Parenting Group to bring Parenting.com content to AOL Family, HuffPo Parents, and AOL.com. [via Fishbowl NY]

Speaking of Huffington Post, they’ve launched a new channel, HuffPost Science.

Colin Mylar, former editor of News of the World has been chosen as the new editor of the New York Daily News. Mylar has been unemployed since NOTW shut down amid the phone hacking scandal that erupted this summer. Capital New York has the internal memo.

There are reports that the Kardashian family has spoken with American Media about the possibility of launching a new magazine. However, Kim’s publicist at PMK-BNC has no comment.

Eric Carven has been named the AP’s social media editor. He was previously a news producer at the AP Nerve Center.

Keith Olbermann has already stirred up the pot at Current TV. Where it will lead seems up in the air. But people do agree on one thing: production value needs to improve a bit.

Fast Fashion Brand Heats Up Manhattan with Underwear Stunt

Barcelona “fast fashion” brand Desigual is harnessing the power of user-generated nakedness to generate buzz for their two Manhattan stores.  The first one hundred people to show up in their underpants at the Soho location tomorrow at opening time will receive a free outfit.  Those late to the “undie party” receive half off.

So far the bare ploy for publicity is working.  The pre-event coverage includes Crain’s, New York magazine, and the Daily News, who even found the one person offended by the pre-event video shoot (above) involving models depecting the expected frenzy.

So far 526 are planning to drop trou in the name of fashion tomorrow.  Desigual is hosting a second party next Tuesday at their other store at 34th and 5th.
