Toyota Shifts AOR Gears…

SHIFT Communications announced that Toyota has selected the award-winning firm as its primary PR agency in the Northeast Region, which includes New York, New England, Washington, D.C., and the mid-Atlantic states. The firm will also play a lead role in strategic planning for the brand, driving earned media with mainstream and social media outlets, and highlighting the motor company’s philanthropic and community relations programs.

“Toyota is a brand with deep roots in innovation,” said Todd Defren, CEO of SHIFT Communications. “That forward-thinking mindset is incredibly synergistic with SHIFT’s approach and we look forward to working closely with the team at Toyota to bring that same level of innovation to its communications.”

The Morris + King Company announced that it has been retained by Arby’s Foundation, an organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America. Over the past 25 years, Arby’s Foundation has donated over $52 million to various charitable causes across the country. Their recent partnership with Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign is working to bring meals to more American children than ever before.

David Herrick (left) has been promoted to COO at MWW Group, working with the firm’s senior leadership team to manage the firm’s culture, client service offerings, and overall growth. He’ll also continue as the GM of the New York office, a position he’s held since joining the firm in 2010.

Jennifer DeGuzman, previously the senior director of consumer PR at AOL, has joined National Geographic as VP of comms. While at AOL, she also worked on strategy for, among other things, the AOL/HuffPo lifestyle sites. DeGuzman has also previously worked for Bravo, also as comms VP, and MTV, where she spent 13 years. NatGeo has also promoted Dara Klatt to senior corp comms director. And Erin Griffin has been promoted to associate director of comms and talent relations. [via]

Roll Call: Shane Goes to Juniper; Kanareck Joins Fleishman; Brent Relocates; and More

Former HP VP David Shane has joined Juniper Networks as VP of corporate communications. PRNewser reported in August that Shane was leaving HP to start his own firm. Shane will lead Juniper’s global communications effort, including analyst and executive communications. He was also previously an SVP at Weber Shandwick with the firm’s corporate issues and entertainment practices.

Richard Kanareck has been appointed MD of Fleishman-Hillard‘s London office. Most recently, Kanareck was comms director for eBay Europe. He will report to regional president Kevin Bell.

William Brent, Weber Shandwick‘s head of the Cleantech practice, has been promoted to EVP. He will relocate to the firm’s San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices.

David Herrick has been named GM of MWW Group‘s New York office. He was previously EVP of the firm’s global consumer marketing practice.

MWW Group Hires Consumer EVP From Kaplow Communications

David Herrick has joined MWW Group as an executive vice president in its Global Consumer Lifestyle Group, the agency said today.

Previously, Herrick served as executive vice president and general manager at Kaplow Communications where he worked with clients including Skype, eBay, American Express and Timex Group.

Prior to Kaplow Communications, David worked with Bristol-Myers Squibb Company as a consultant responsible for developing an internal communications program. Before that, he led the consumer and corporate communications practice for Ruder Finn’s San Francisco office.
