Randi Zuckerberg, Facebook’s Marketing Director, Stepping Down

Randi Zuckerberg, co-founder of Facebook, sister to Mark, and director of marketing for the social network, has handed in her letter of resignation. She plans to launch RtoZ Media, a social media firm.

“My goal is to launch my own innovative programming and work with media companies to develop their programming in new, and more social ways. In attacking this challenge, Facebook will clearly be a central element in all of my projects,” she said in her resignation letter.

It was only last week that she was at the Hearst Tower talking about Facebook and online privacy with Erin Andrews, Chelsea Clinton, and Marie Claire! She’s in the photo above at the event, second from the left.

‘Marie Claire’ Panel Audience Directs Privacy Questions at Facebook

Left to right: Common Sense Media's Amy Guggenheim Shenkan, Facebook's Randi Zuckerberg, ESPN's Erin Andrews, Chelsea Clinton, and 'Marie Claire' EIC Joanna Coles

Last night, former first daughter Chelsea Clinton took the stage at the Hearst Tower in NYC to introduce a lively panel discussion about online privacy and education. The event was hosted by Marie Claire editor-in-chief Joanna Coles and Common Sense Media, a nonprofit dedicated to sharing information with kids and families about navigating the digital world.

Clinton said her first media memory as a kid was picking up a copy of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Nowadays, of course, kids and adults are zipping around the Web, sometimes with long-term repercussions.

Though the panel was called “Social media: The perils and possibilities of living in a digital world,” the perilous side was clearly on everyone’s mind. With an overwhelmingly female audience, including a number of moms (Coles referenced her own son a couple of times), the biggest concern was how to prevent over-sharing and cyberbullying.

With that, the person who everyone turned to for answers was Randi Zuckerberg, Facebook’s marketing head and Mark’s sister. At one point, she said she wanted to go home to her baby.

The Curious Case of Erin Andrews

Whether it’s her stint on Dancing with the Stars, her commercials for Sony, her peephole stalker, or her ability to provide poignant and colorful information during some of the biggest telecasts in sports, Erin Andrews is arguably one of the most recognizable sports media personalities.

So when she reported that TCU was slipping in their new Nike cleats during the Rose Bowl it seemed normal. Two weeks later she signed on the dotted line with…Reebok?.

“I’m very excited to be the first female to become part of Reebok’s ZigTech campaign, joining superstars like Peyton Manning, Sidney Crosby, John Wall, Chad Ochocinco, and many more,” said Andrews in a statement. And so begins a very curious case of the journalist/spokesperson.
