Which 15 Firms Made the Inc. 5000 List?

First: a Happy Summer Friday to everyone.

We here at PRNewser don’t really like to facilitate competition among our friends and associates in the industry. And we don’t generally post on firms winning awards because, you know, that’s kind of your job.

You know what we do like, though? Lists. Everyone likes lists!

When it comes to businesses, a spot in the Inc. 5000 is like the “my kid is an honor student at X Middle School” bumper sticker you can put on your agency van to remind everyone that you’ve done a pretty good job as a parent. We get it — we once wrote those releases ourselves.

Since we’ve gotten a few emails about the newly released Inc. list for 2014, we figured we’d do a bit of reading and rank the firms that scored a spot in the (reverse) order in which they appear.

  • Formula PR will handle Dunkin’ Donuts’ planned California expansion with a one-year contract as reported in PR Week today. RF|Binder will retain its position as AOR for the chain on the national level as well as in the New York/Boston markets, but Formula beat out seven other firms to win the regional job. The firm will provide “boots on the ground” while the client will presumably hand out after-work treats.

IMRE was selected as AOR for five new clients in the home and building practice. The firm will raise awareness for American Silk Mills’ eco-friendly Sensuede textile; target homeowners with an integrated marketing campaign to build visibility for Kwikset security systems; support product launches and execute a media relations campaign for Pfister; execute PR and brand messaging to architects and contractors on behalf of Dryvit Sytems, an exterior insulation and finishing company; and perform trade show and online media work for furniture manufacturer Ekornes ASA.

LarsonO’Brien Marketing Group has also added three clients in the architectural space to its roster: Viracon, which sells glass products and durable coatings; Syntheon, an engineering design company; and American Hydrotech, which specializes in waterproofing and roofing products.

Exotic red bananas from Turbana

Wheatley & Timmons has been chosen for PR and marketing services for New Zealand company BioVittoria, which is introducing its calorie-free monk fruit sweetener to the U.S. Work will include event management, education programs targeting consumers and healthcare pros, and creating online content.

Turbana, a grower and importer of plantains, bananas, and exotic bananas, has chosen Uproar PR as its AOR and social media firm.

Shure, a manufacturer of audio products, has chosen Formula PR as its AOR after a competitive review that began in March. The work will focus on outreach to Gen Y. [via PRWeek]

Newcastle Brown Ale Mixes Beer with Social Media

Newcastle Brown Ale has launched a series of installations in San Diego, with one setting up opportunities for picture takers to post images on social networks.

The video above shows how it’s working for the “Trapped in a Schooner” installation at the Del Mar Race Track, which opened for the season a couple of weeks ago. Post the photos on Facebook or Foursquare and get a t-shirt.

Kate Moss in Topshop

Topshop has hired Zapwater Communications for PR, marketing, social media, and events work tied to the September opening of the retailer’s Chicago store. David Zapata, president of Zapwater, said the fees for the account are “sizeable” with more than six staffers doing the work. [via PRWeek]

The Snoring Center, which specializes in treatment for snoring and sleep apnea has chosen Hill & Knowlton for both traditional and social media PR work. The firm’s L.A. and N.Y. offices will work on the account.

Beckerman has added six clients to its real estate practice: ABS Partners, a NYC brokerage and consulting firm; Avidan Management, a family-owned New Jersey real estate company; Centaur Properties, which acquires and rebrands property; Claremont Companies, a development and construction business; First Potomac Realty Trust, a real estate investment trust; and Hollister Construction Services, a general contractor.
