  • New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings looked south for communications services, choosing French/West/Vaughan as his agency of record. F/W/V will help Jennings develop his personal brand and “maximize his business opportunities” via sponsorships, marketing initiatives, etc. Interestingly, Jennings is a health nut on a gluten/casein-free diet who also enjoys motivational speaking, performing magic tricks and playing the guitar.

Now who wants Johnny Manziel?!

Fifteen Minutes PR will be the agency of record for Project Shoe, a service that allows customers to quite literally design their own footwear (which will be delivered to their doors in 2-4 weeks).

We hope they do slip-ons.

The firm will also represent Nicole Curtis, star of the DIY Network/HGTV show “Rehab Addict”. The show focuses on Curtis’ efforts to renovate condemned houses–a process that will almost certainly ruin more than a few pairs of shoes…

Weber Shandwick will be AOR for Eyelock, a company that makes the kind of eye-scanning anti-theft ID software that’s been a hallmark of science fiction for, what, 50 years? The firm will provide “media relations, content development, and strategic counsel”, but if this product works as advertised then a simple on-site demo is all we’d need.

“There are no second acts in American lives.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

North Carolina’s French/West/Vaughan is the PR AOR for former trial lawyer, senator and presidential/vice presidential candidate John Edwards, who announced his return to the law business this week by launching the firm Edwards Kirby five years after his political career came to an end.

F/W/V CEO Rick French says his organization “probably would not have made this [client] public had it not been reported [by a local CBS affiliate]” after interviews appeared in The New York Times, the National Law Journal and other publications.

“Man who invented the hamburger was smart; man who invented the cheeseburger was a genius.” – Matthew McConaughey

Virginia-based beef patty franchise Elevation Burger has selected French/West/Vaughan as its PR AOR. Elevation burnishes the usual bread and meat equation with certified organic cred and a dedication to sustainability; FWV will plan an integrated marketing strategy as the business expands across the U.S. and overseas. We have great confidence in all related projects, because the classic sandwich with the German name has been selling itself to Americans for well over a century thanks largely to the fact that it is delicious.

Loews Regency Hotel in New York City chose the Susan Magrino Agency as its PR AOR in anticipation of a January 2014 re-opening following a top-down $100 million renovation.

While we have no idea what the new facade will look like, the chef at Loews Regency’s as-yet-unnammed “concept” restaurant will be Dan Silverman, formerly of the Standard Grill in the André Balazs hotel of the same name. (And yes, we’re already salivating.)

Susan Magrino also landed interior design firm Meyer Davis Studios and Hammacher Schlemmer, a mail order gift company that claims to be America’s oldest catalog publisher, sells products like “the authentic 1966 Batmobile”, and resembles a Bizarro World cross between Brookstone and the J. Peterman catalog (it’s real, and it’s spectacular).

Nope. Not that.

“My first job was in retail at the age of 14, and I have worked in the industry ever since.” – Rachel Roy

The National Retail Federation has retained digital agency Rain (PR AOR Sunshine Sachs) to create digital shorts for its industry campaign site This Is Retail. The purpose of the campaign is to convince young people that a career in retail doesn’t necessarily mean working the register for $10 an hour.

NRF SVP Bill Thorne says “We want young people to think retail when they are on the job hunt”, because the booming industry truly does need more employees at a time when jobless rates for young grads are near record highs. The videos are clever (watch one after the jump), but good luck getting young folks to say “Hell yeah, I work in retail!”
