Many of us in the PRNewserverse heart Ben & Jerry’s for many reasons.

The ice cream is the absolute shiznit. The culture they exhibit in branding and social media is contagious. How can one not adore flavors like “Cherry Garcia,” “Phish Food,” and “Half Baked?”

We paid homage to the hippie lettuce trend when B&J surreptitiously supported the legalizing of cannabis, because someone in the company’s marketing/PR department gets it.

Ben & Jerry’s may have a light-hearted approach to publicity, but the company can step outside the hookah lounge long enough to get serious, too.

Colorado Weed Joke Proves That Ben & Jerry Are Just Hippies

Colorado: Where “Home on the Range” means something completely different.

On January 1, the Centennial State became the nation’s first to legalize marijuana. That means all Deadheads and Widespread Panic fans are putting their homes on the market because Denver suddenly is the place to be, but ice cream major domos Ben and Jerry also decided to do something that should have created big PR issues for their brand.

You think that was a #PRFail or #PRWin? Take a gander at the numbers. More than 10,000 retweets and 6,000 favorites says #winning all day long. And while “half baked” on “phish food,” that day is going to last a long, long time. Now, pass me those stale Cheetos, please.

The Häagen-Dazs ‘Ice Moon’ Demands Your Attention

And now for a dose of Gratuitous Product Rollout Porn: Luxury ice-cream brand Häagen-Dazs hired London-based design firm Doshi Levien, whose projects range from furniture to ergonomically designed kitchen appliances, to create a product to boost sales for the Christmas season. They created what may be the coolest food items we’ve seen in many a…month. (Wait, what did you think we were going to write?)

We’re not sure whether these pieces will truly boost the Häagen-Dazs brand over the holidays, but they are a marvel of food design. 

What’s inside these beautifully shaped cakes? The white moon “consists of a pistachio biscuit base, layers of macadamia nut ice cream and meringue and a coating of raspberry ice cream” while the darker version “has crunchy chocolate at the bottom, layers of nutty ice cream and salted caramel and a coating of vanilla ice cream”.

Oh my.
