StockTwits and Q4 Partner for Financial Comms Tools

Q4 Web Systems, the social media service company for corporations, has partnered with StockTwits, the comms platform for the financial world to offer a new set of services to help public companies reach their target audiences online.

“IR professionals at public companies are increasingly facing challenges in reaching all their key audiences in the most effective way, with limited resources,” said Howard Lindzon, co-founder and CEO of StockTwits, in a press release statement.

Investor relations pros occupy an interesting position in the communications world, skirting the area between finance and economics and traditional PR. We see their work during quarterly earnings and financial announcements, which has the capacity to move markets. Yet, their work is also done quietly, without the hoopla of celebrity events or (in many cases) a big social media presence.

Next month, IR Magazine is publishing a supplement, “Profiling the Best IROs in the U.S.,” that will take a closer look at the qualities of a good IRO. Some Companies Are Making IR Very Accessible

An analysis conducted by XbInsight takes a close look at the 33 companies shortlisted for this year’s European IR awards and found that while many of these companies make the contact info for their IRO easy to find, others are keeping it under lock and key.

Novo Nordisk of Denmark, the Netherlands’ Sligro Food Group, and Belgium’s Umicore all scored highest (nine out of 10 points), for making their IRO accessible with phone numbers, email addresses, and other info. Novo Nordisk also provides mobile numbers and photos.

The companies on the bottom barely give any info at all.

‘IR Magazine’ Announces European Nominees

IR Magazine has announced the European nominees for the best of the best in investor relations across the Atlantic.

Winners are selected based on the favorable words of 700 institutional investors and analysts. The awards will be handed out at a ceremony at the London Hilton on June 30, hosted by writer and comedian Sandi Toksvig.

Among the nominees are Nestlé for best overall IR for a large-cap company; Sligro Food Group for best overall IR for a small-cap company; InterContinental Hotels Group’s Heather Wood for best IRO at a small- or mid-cap company; and UBS’s John Cryan for best IR by a CFO. Germany leads the pack by country with 41 nominations. And BASF leads by company with nominations in 10 categories, up from eight last year.

IR Magazine has named its U.S. investor relations award winners at its annual awards gala. Among the winners were Microsoft for Best IR Website; JP Morgan Chase & Co for Best Financial Reporting and Best Crisis Management; Berkshire Hathaway for Best Corporate Governance; and Apple for Most Progress in IR.
