E! announced a new PR reality show today, “The Spin Crowd.” The eight-episode series will feature Command PR, and will show how they, “execute red carpet events, cozy up to their celebrity clients and try to stay agile enough to keep last-minute mix-ups from spiraling into disasters.”

The new show debuted as a half-hour special on E! in February 2010 called “The SPINdustry.” It is produced by Bunim-Murray Productions and executive produced by Kim Kardashian.

The series is not entirely a surprise, as the network’s director of original programming and series development Jason Sarlanis told PRNewser in February, “If this show performs nicely we’d love to see it expanded into a series.”

As recently as March 23rd, a network rep told PRNewser, “No decisions have been made,” in regards to a potential series.

From the release:

In the series, Jonathan, Simon and their ever-ready Los Angeles staff at Command PR will execute red carpet events, cozy up to their celebrity clients and try to stay agile enough to keep last-minute mix-ups from spiraling into disasters. The ladies who round out Jonathan and Simon’s ambitious PR team will make sure the inter-office drama is always dialed up high.

Get ready, folks.

Why Hasn’t E! Renewed Its PR Reality Show ‘The Spindustry?’

kim-kardashian-4-320.jpg

It has everything one would want: drama, celebrity, and of course, ratings. So why hasn’t E! made a decision whether or not to continue with its Kim Kardashian produced reality show on the PR industry, “The Spindustry.”

The show was originally scheduled as a one episode special, but E! director of original programming and series development Jason Sarlanis told PRNewser in February, “If this show performs nicely we’d love to see it expanded into a series.”

An E! PR rep recently told PRNewser, “No decisions have been made.” A rep for Command PR, the firm featured in the show said, “No news yet, but we will certainly keep you posted.”

One person we bet is happy to see the show fade into obscurity: Kelly Cutrone, who has her own PR reality show, “Kell on Earth,” which continues to gain buzz on Bravo.

Ratings: “SPINdustry” Premiere Crushes “Kell On Earth”

The ratings are in for television’s two PR reality shows, and it’s not looking good so far for fashion PR agency owner Kelly Cutrone.

Her “Kell on Earth” debuted on Bravo to an audience of 226,000 viewers. Episode two spiked at 560,000 viewers, and episode three had 372,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, “SPINdustry” debuted on E! this past Sunday to 2.53 million viewers, and 1.25 million viewers in the 18-34 demo. “Kell On Earth” peaked with 215,000 viewers in the 18-34 demo for episode two.

“SPINdustry” features Kim Kardashian‘s buddies Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck of Command PR. E! director of original programming and series development Jason Sarlanis told PRNewser earlier this month, “If this show performs nicely we’d love to see it expanded into a series.”

Despite the solid ratings, an E! PR rep told PRNewser today that no decisions have been made to continue the show past one episode.

That being said, “Kell On Earth” still has four more episodes yet to air, so who knows what kind of fireworks we’ll see that could boost ratings. Also, “SPINdustry” only had one episode to promote. If E! does decide to produce more episodes, it will be interesting to see if the ratings hold.

Nevertheless, Cheban has been in full promo mode, as almost every post on his Twitter feed as of late has been about the show.

Cutrone is doing her part as well, as she wrote on her Facebook page yesterday:

EVERYONE WRITE INTO BRAV@BRAVOTV (TWITTER)AND TELL THEM YOU LIVE FOR AND LOVE KELL ON EARTH – WATCH TONIGHT AT 10 AS THE AXE SWINGS

All ratings figures from Nielsen Media Research.

E! Exec on Kim Kardashian PR Show: ‘We’d Love To See It Expanded Into A Series’

kim-kardashian-picture-2.jpg

Is Kim Kardashian‘s new PR reality show “The Spindustry” only a one time thing? While E! announced only one episode of the show, to air on February 21st, the network’s director of original programming and series development Jason Sarlanis told PRNewser today, “If this show performs nicely we’d love to see it expanded into a series.”

Sarlanis said Kardashian pitched the idea of the show, since she knows Command PR owners Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck well.

They are “wild and outrageous characters” that are “great for TV,” said Sarlanis.

He thinks “The Spindustry” gives E! “an entire different prism from which we can identify the celebrity world. E! has been home of the red carpet for so long and to have a show devoted to the inner workings of celebrity PR, it’s perfect for us.”
