Warner Brothers’ DC Entertainment has named Courtney Simmons SVP of publicity overseeing media relations and internal comms. Previously, she was VP of communications for Disney Interactive Media Group.

CBS’ SVP of communications Jeff Ballabon is leaving the network after two years. “With the change in leadership, it’s time for me to leave as well,” he wrote in a memo that is currently posted on TVNewser.

Elizabeth Wasden has joined CBS News as director, communications for “The CBS Evening News With Katie Couric,” the network said today.

Wasden joins CBS News from Forbes Media, where she most recently worked as director, editorial publicity. Prior to Forbes, Wasden served as a publicist for media brands including Good Housekeeping and Money magazines.

She will report to Jeff Ballabon, Senior Vice President, CBS News Communications. Wasden’s services are in addition to those of Matthew Hiltzik, who serves as Couric’s personal publicist outside of CBS. The appointment is effective August 2.

Jeff Ballabon, SVP Communications at CBS News, sent out a memo to staff today announcing the move. “Her strong relationships with reporters on the TV beat and with gossip writers have been, and continue to be, invaluable,” he said.

Longtime CBS News exec Kevin Tedesco has been promoted to Executive Director, Communications. Tedesco, who has been with CBS News for 14 years, has worked mainly on 60 Minutes.

In an internal memo CBS News Senior Vice President of Communications Jeff Ballabon said, “Kevin has had plenty to brag about recently as America’s number-one news program had its best season in many years and was duly recognized by the press, thanks in no small part to Kevin’s efforts.”

CBS News announced Sonya McNair joined the company last week as vice president for communications. McNair will report to Jeff Ballabon, Senior Vice President of Communications for CBS News and will work in the “management of media relations and publicity for the CBS News Division,” according to a company statement.

Previously McNair served as director for publications at The New Yorker.
