B-M Launches New Tech Agency

Burson-Marsteller has announced the launch of North of Nine, a tech agency that will be headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Jennifer Graham Clary will lead the firm as CEO, and there will be a staff of 25 including new hire Jay Marose, who will serve as creative director.

According to B-M, North of Nine is another tech firm option that will help clients avoid conflicts with companies on the B-M tech practice roster. The firm will operate on its own, but will join B-M’s list of firms that include Direct Impact, Proof Integrated Communications, and Penn Schoen Berland.

Ballard and Heinonen Named B-M Co-Market Leaders

Burson-Marsteller has named Cheryl Heinonen and Nathan Ballard co-market leaders for Northern California. They will be responsible for leading the San Francisco team and growing the B-M business in that area. Ballard, MD in the media practice and the issues and crisis group, and Heinonen, MD of the US corporate practice, will retain those roles as well. Jennifer Graham Clary, who served as interim market leader, will continue as global technology practice chair. Both execs joined the firm in early 2010. They will report to the firm’s US president and CEO Patrick Ford.
