U.S. Open Tennis Follows A Social Game Plan

With two weeks of celebrity sightings, corporate entertaining, and lively spectators, the U.S. Open tennis tournament is a highly social sports event. Earlier this summer the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) increased fans’ social options by launching the contest “Follow Me to the U.S. Open.

PRNewser spoke with USTA communications director, Tim Curry, and marketing director, Nicole Jeter West, about the contest, attracting international attendees, and plans for the final match taking place on 9/11.

Social Media Week, Internet Week Updates

Social Media Week has announced four additional cities for its next event, taking place September 19 through 23: Los Angeles, which has hosted before, Vancouver, Beirut, and Glasgow. The other cities are Rio, Moscow, Berlin, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, and São Paolo. The deadline to participate in a local event is June 1.

And Internet Week, taking place in New York between June 6 and 13 has announced the panels that were selected by the voting public for the event. The “Make the Stage” contest accepted panel suggestions and about 10,000 votes were collected. Among the winners are “Mobile? We Have an App for That” and “Everyone’s a Comedian” with actual comedians Judah Friedlander (30 Rock) and Michael Ian Black.
