The Friday Dump: Kris Humphries Thinks Lamar Odom Should Fear ‘The PR Spin Machine’

Today in Oh God, We Went There news, NBA free agent and E! Entertainment property Lamar Odom was arrested this morning for suspicion of DUI in Los Angeles after cops saw him doing that whole “driving erratically” thing. This is a terribly unfortunate story, yet despite the fact that we have never willingly watched the show that shall not be named, we almost feel like we saw it coming—and so, apparently, did Kris Humphries.

Earlier in the week, we received a totally unverifiable tip that a West Hollywood PR firm connected to that family had hired a crisis management specialist famous for rehabilitating the images of flailing celebrities, the implication being that this pro was there to either prevent or clean up a disaster.

We really don’t care, but according to yet another anonymous source who somehow found enough good will in his or her heart to contact Radar Online, Humphries wants Odom to know that the family’s “public relations spin machine” might damage his basketball career. Both men think that they used their PR connections to leak inflammatory stories to a certain gossip website (which might just happen to be TMZ).

We’re starting to think the entire city of Los Angeles and every firm within it should sue these people for defamation of character.

Oh, and a great Labor Day weekend to you, too! Make sure not to watch any Kris Jenner Show reruns.

RIP to the Brooklyn Nets’ Amazing PR Twitter Feed

We are sad to report today, via various sources, that the nascent Brooklyn Nets PR department has (at least temporarily) abandoned its incredible Twitter account. Some speculate that the decision to “go in a different direction” on the social media front came after pretty much everyone on the Internet mocked truly amazing tweets like this one:

and this one:

and this one:

Yes, the account retweeted itself. Oh, and by the way, this announcement came after the team’s first game. They were 1-0.

The Nets communications department appears to have pushed PR manager Calder Hynes a little further away from the spotlight, though he still manages his personal feed. But why? Doesn’t everybody love humor? Didn’t you guys notice the thousands of shares and favorites on that first tweet? Most of the tweets weren’t even funny. They were just updates of individual games, stats and players’ statuses. You know, standard sports PR stuff.

Finally, can a team really be concerned about the public taking it more seriously when its roster includes Kris Humphries?

Kris Humphries Speaks; Kim Kardashian Keeps Selling Her Handbags

In our continuing coverage of the statements from people surrounding the Kim Kardashian/Kris Humphries divorce, we finally have something from Mr. Kardashian-Humphries.

I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce… I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.

Well isn’t that dumb?

Here Come the Kardashian Divorce Statements

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are divorcing. I know, I know. You thought after the “fairytale wedding” these two kids would be together forever, happily ever after. The unexpected tragedy of today’s news only adds to the horror that is Halloween.

Soooo. What now? The statements! Here’s what Kim had to say “exclusively” to E!: ”After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was one made after 72 days of marriage. They tried y’all. But, according to TMZ, they just couldn’t agree on where to live.

And here’s E! statement, made “exclusively” to E!. Note: E! has issued a statement before Kris Humphries did.

Months of Chatter Culminates in a Kardashian Wedding News Frenzy

If you were having trouble pitching your weekend story, it likely had something to do with the Kim Kardashian’s wedding. News outlets descended on Montecito, CA in full force to capture the overdone nuptials in all their glory. The Hollywood Reporter reports on the media coverage; E! had “the exclusive” (seriously, does Kardashian news ever get reined in to one news outlet), while Access Hollywood, the Today show (Kathie Lee Gifford was a guest), CNN, and CBS were among the others clamoring for whatever news a wedding affords. It looks like the media has read this article from The Onion and are doing their very best to have celebrity names rolling off of everyone’s lips.
