Stacy Mackler Joins Euro RSCG PR As CMO

Mackler joins Euro RSGC PR from Clinique, where vice president of global communications. She will will oversee new business and organic growth, as well as two new initiatives: the Center for Account Management Excellence and SoMe Central, a “branded think tank to track social media trends for public relations professionals.”

“Stacy has understood the power of digital-traditional hybrid approaches to marketing since they began…The incredible thing is that she has continued to innovate throughout her career, creating new trends and revamping the communications approaches of global companies to tremendous effect,” said Marian Salzman, president of Euro RSCG Worldwide PR in a statement.

Mackler has also spent time at Manning, Selvage & Lee and Lippe Taylor Public Relations.

Euro RSCG’s Salzman on 2010 Trends: ‘Co-Creating the News’


Brian Morrissey, digital editor at AdWeek, and Marian Salzman, president of North American PR for agency Euro RSCG joined CNBC’s “Power Lunch” today to talk “Top Marketing Trends for 2010.”

Salzman said with social media taking even more of a front seat, “it’s not going to be paid anymore, it’s going to be persuade. It’s all about being part of wherever the news is being created, co-creating the news.”

“It’s about replacing ads with action” said Morrissey, emphasizing that companies need to “prove it” and “show, don’t tell” when it comes to their products and customer service.

Year in Review: Agency Trends

This year was all about digital, digital, digital. Agencies big and small expanded, re-branded, and staffed up to meet client demand, while also performing triage on their traditional business. A number agencies made deep staff cuts, while some closed altogether. Journalists fled crumbling mastheads to join the PR world. Flat became the new growth for those reporting earnings.

EuroRSCG Launches Dedicated Media Relations Department

EuroRSCG PR North America announced a dedicated media relations department today, branded Newsengine. Lisa Vanella was named director of the integrated offering, reporting to Mary Coyle, SVP and director of media relations.

The release includes a laundry list of offerings including: press conferences; desk-side briefings with editors; live and virtual press events, pop-ups and editor experiences; national morning-show plaza “stormings” and street teams; viral campaigns; online petitions; blog outreach; and social networking efforts on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

Newsengine is the first big Euro RSCG announcement with the new Marian Salzman‘s name attached since she joined as president two months ago. She was Chief Marketing Officer of Porter Novelli.

Euro RSCG Worldwide PR North America is part of the 233 office Euro RSCG Worldwide PR, the biggest division of the French company Havas.

Trendspotter Marian Salzman Leaves Porter Novelli, Re-joins Euro RSCG

Porter Novelli Chief Marketing Officer Marian Salzman begins her new job at her former employer Euro RSCG Worldwide today, according to her Twitter feed:

“Looking forward to my first day at Euro RSCG Worldwide PR. Am very bullish on PR, and think PR will own social media and brand communities.”

She leaves the Omnicom firm (NYSE: OMC) after 18 months on the job, her first at a PR agency after a storied career in advertising. Salzman is known as a trendspotter, most notably for coming up with the term “metrosexual”.

Her title is President, Euro RSCG Worldwide PR North America. From 2001 to 2004 she was on the ad side as EVP, Chief Strategy Officer

Her farewell blog post lists the programs she presided over including Porter Novelli’s pop-up fashion firm Jack + Bill, representation of SXSW, Shorty Awards, and Tweet to ReMIND, the Bob Woodruff Foundation effort to help Veteran.

She also promoted PN as a talking head on network and cable news shows (see Porter Novelli’s YouTube channel for clips).
