Roll Call: Ogilvy PR, Burson-Marsteller, APCO Worldwide and More

Ogilvy Public Relations announced that Nicky McHugh has been named executive director of the agency’s New York Corporate Practice. McHugh will lead the strategic direction and growth of the New York Corporate Practice. She will oversee the group’s client accounts, financial performance, talent, and business development initiatives. The Corporate Practice services clients in the areas of reputation management, employee communications, investor relations and business-to-business public relations. Bringing nearly two decades of experience in strategic corporate communications, reputation management, issues advocacy and executive visibility, McHugh has partnered with numerous influential brands in the financial and professional services sectors. She launched the Qatar Investment Authority in the U.S., provided executive support across North America for the Dubai International Financial Center and also for the French government’s economic development division, Invest in France. Most recently she spearheaded the agency team for Deloitte, and was the North America lead for the World Gold Council. (Release)

Burson-Marsteller announced that Ann Davison has been named chair, U.S. Public Affairs and Crisis practice, effective June 16. Davison will work closely with U.S. CEO Dave DenHerder and U.S. president Michael Law. For the past 25 years, Davison has led public policy, corporate reputation, advocacy and public education campaigns for elected officials, Fortune 100 global organizations, non-profits and private foundations. Davison joins Burson-Marsteller from VOX Global, where she served as senior partner and managing director, working with corporate and non-profit clients to advance their reputation and advocacy goals since 2008. Before that, she spent seven years with FleishmanHillard, most recently as senior partner and deputy general manager, managing multimillion dollar accounts in the agency’s Washington, D.C. and Miami offices. Throughout her career, she has passionately guided clients in applying social marketing and campaign strategies to shape beliefs, attitudes and behaviors in pursuit of making an impact on people and policies. Edelman has named Sara Jones executive vice president and group head for Edelman Los Angeles‘s Public Affairs practice. Jones specializes in crisis and issues management, devising strategy to mitigate complex, high-risk situations for clients, with particular expertise in litigation, regulatory communications and labor relations. Outreach Strategies, LLC has announced the hire of Angela Bonarrigo as Senior Vice President. Bonarrigo had been Director of the Washington, D.C., office for Ceres. In her new role, Bonarrigo now directs the development and implementation of strategic communications and advocacy campaigns designed to promote positive environmental outcomes. (Release)

Ogilvy & Mather has integrated Ogilvy Public Relations‘ healthcare practice with its global healthcare marketing communications group, Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide. It appointed Kate Cronin, who has led Ogilvy PR’s New York office and also serving as global healthcare practice leader, to oversee the integration of the PR unit into the new offering. She will also sit on Ogilvy CommonHealth’s global board. (PRWeek)

OgilvyEngage Launches

Ogilvy Public Relations has launched OgilvyEngage, a practice focused on getting consumers to change their habits in response to socially responsible public health and safety programs. Actions can include something as personal as taking medication according to a doctor’s prescription.

“A company can deepen its relationship with its customers by supporting them in such actions as managing their healthcare, developing better nutrition habits, and protecting their homes and their assets. It’s good for the customer and society and that makes it good for the business,” said Ogilvy PR CEO Christopher Graves in a statement.

Roll Call: Former ABC News Reporter Joins Ogilvy PR

Emmy-winning business journalist Betsy Stark is joining Ogilvy Public Relations as MD of content and media strategy, a new position at the firm. In this role, Stark will provide clients with counsel on media strategy (including social media) and help produce original content. Stark, who’s also a Peabody award winner, was previously an ABC News reporter, making appearances on shows including GMA and World News. She also covered the Obama inauguration and other current events issues during her 12 years there. She has been working with Ogilvy for the past year on a consultant basis.

Disney‘s president of movie marketing, MT Carney, has left the company after just 20 months. She worked on films including The Help and Cars 2. Immediately prior to her departure, the New York Times published a lengthy article about Carney’s struggles to overcome her “outsider” position in a role the paper calls “Hollywood’s most influential marketing position.” Prior to joining Disney, Carney was founder of the New York advertising firm, Naked NY.
