Florida A&M University’s Board of Trustees has hired Dan Klores Communications to handle crisis communications in the wake of the November 19 death of drum major Robert Champion, WCTV reports. According to the news outlet, DKC will be paid $25,000 plus $5,000 for expenses. The school’s chief comms director Sharon Saunders said in a statement, “For this 30-day contract period, the Board of Trustees wanted a firm to assist while we seek long term help in ensuring that FAMU’s brand as a leader in higher education is maintained.” Investigators suspect that Champion’s death was caused by a hazing incident.
