Roll Call: Edelman, OCG PR, Public Relations Global Network, and More

Edelman has announced new leadership positions in the firm’s Chicago office, naming Kevin Cook as Chicago’s first chief operating officer and Una Pipic as the new chief of staff, effective immediately. Cook and Pipic will report to Jay Porter, president, Edelman Chicago. The addition of these positions is part of maintaining the momentum and continued evolution of the Chicago office. Cook joined Edelman in 1996 and has served as the managing director of Chicago’s Corporate Affairs practice since 2008, and Pipic joined Edelman in 2013 as senior vice president of the new business and marketing team. OCG PR has added new, strategic leadership in public engagement, public relations and creative services. The agency has appointed Amanda L. Ray to senior vice president, public relations; Cynthia Northrop White to senior vice president, public engagement and Michel Ansara to creative director. Ray now leads the strategy and overall execution of the firm’s corporate communications, media relations, social media and integrated marketing communications campaigns. Over the past 20 years, she has brought award-winning PR programs to life for companies and organizations like AT&T, Cell Phones for Soldiers, The Women’s Museum and TXU Energy, among others. Northrop White now directs strategy and overall execution for the agency’s public engagement practice. A former Denton County Commissioner, she brings years of experience connecting and educating stakeholders and municipal leaders around public sector developments. Prior to joining OCG, she was the head of the Public Information Office for TxDOT’s Dallas District. Ansara now oversees all creative strategy and execution for the firm’s design and video production. A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, he brings more than 10 years of experience designing and developing print, digital and video assets and augmented reality engagement to OCG. (Release)

Roll Call: Cumulus Media, Smithsonian Media and Public Relations Global Network

Bill Bungeroth has been named vice president/market manager for Cumulus Media, San Francisco. Bungeroth assumes his new post immediately, overseeing the legendary Cumulus’ San Francisco brands, KNBR, 107.7 The Bone (KSAN), KTCT and KFOG. Bungeroth has had a significant role with Cumulus. He co-founded the radio group, and was named Cumulus’ initial President and CEO. Bungeroth comes to the position after a significant radio and entrepreneurial career with strong ratings and revenue successes. He conceived and launched “The Huckabee Report” with Governor Mike Huckabee, now on 560 stations. He also championed “The Download with iTunes” and most recently, led the executive team that launched the 24/7 Comedy Network nationwide. (Release)

Smithsonian Media elevated marketing director Judy Glassman to associate publisher/marketing. She is now responsible for developing multi-platform marketing programs for the Smithsonian flagship along with Air & Space Smithsonian, goSmithsonian, Smithsonian Channel and Smithsonian.com. Glassman is past marketing executive at six Condé Nast magazines: Allure, Gentlemen’s Quarterly, Glamour, Lucky, Modern Bride and Self. (minonline.com)

Roll Call: P&G, Hilton, Arthur Page Society grants, and more

P&G‘s global external relations head Christopher Hassall is retiring on June 30, prompting a restructure of the company’s comms team, reporting to global brand-building officer Marc Pritchard (left). The group will shrink from 1,200 to 800, with a number of employees moving to regulatory and legal areas of the company. The new structure is in line with the company’s five-year $10 billion cost-cutting plan. [via]

Christian Kuhn has been appointed VP of marketing for Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton, two all-suite, extended stay hotel brands. Kuhn was previously director of brand marketing for Embassy Suites. He’s also worked with AOL and AARP.

Roll Call: Style Network, T-Mobile, the Seychelles, and More

Nicole Sabatini has been named the SVP of marketing for the Style Network. Sabatini served as the VP of ad sales and marketing for Bravo Media since 2007. In her new role, she will oversee consumer marketing, brand partnerships, new media, and other marketing areas.

Hernan Daguerre, the director of external comms at T-Mobile, has died in a car crash at the age of 38, PRWeek reports. Daguerre had been with the company for a year, working previously with companies including Nike and MTV.

Lena Hoareau has been put in charge of the new Seychelles Tourism Board London office. The PR office will also serve as a news bureau for media in Europe and in untapped markets. Hoareau is also responsible for the European PR office and has served in the lead position previously for the news bureau. [via Breaking Travel News]

Study Finds Corporate Marketers are ‘Going Global’

A study of 206 comms pros conducted by the Public Relations Global Network (PRGN) found that 70 percent of organizations either have or plan to have an international marketing operation the next five years. The study polled a mixture of comms pros at agencies, companies, and nonprofits. Forty-three percent of respondents said they already have a global system set up.

More than 40 percent of respondents said culture and language were the barriers to their international marketing operations.

PRGN Elects New President, Adds Firms

The Public Relations Global Network (PRGN), an international network of independent PR firms, has elected Francine Robbens, a partner at Belgium’s Public Relations Partners, as its president.  The previous president was Patricia Pérez, partner at L.A.’s VPE PR. Mark Paterson, MD at Melbourne, Australia’s Currie Communications, has been selected as president-elect.

PRGN has also added three firms: YesWeCan, located in Paris; Cabinet Privé de Conseils (CPC) in Geneva, Switzerland; and LVBA Comunicação in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
