B-M Names Tech, Consumer Practice Execs

Sabrina Guttman (right) has been named Burson-Marsteller‘s U.S. technology practice chair. She joined the firm in August 2011 as deputy tech practice chair. She’s also the lead on the company’s SAP account.

Guttman went to B-M from Ruder Finn, where she spent a few short months as that firm’s tech and innovation practice leader. She had previously worked at B-M between 2005 and 2007.

The firm has also named Michelle Stevenson MD of the U.S. consumer and brand marketing practice. Her focus in the position will be on sponsorships, celebrity spokespeople, events, and overall brand building. She’ll also be leading the Saban Brands U.S., The San Diego Zoo, and Konami.

Stevenson was previously SVP and global co-chair of Fleishman-Hillard’s FH Entertainment practice where she led the North American communications for Tourism Australia. Her prior experience at The Lippin Group included work with the Emmy and People’s Choice awards. She’ll be based in Los Angeles.

Guttman Rejoins Burson’s Tech Practice

Sabrina Guttman has been named U.S. deputy technology practice chair at Burson-Marsteller based in San Francisco and reporting to Jim Goldman, the U.S. chair for the firm’s tech practice.

Guttman had previously worked in the Burson tech group as a director from 2005 to 2007. Most recently, she was at Ruder Finn, where she spent a few months at the leader of the firm’s new tech and innovation practice. It was announced just a couple of weeks ago that she’d left the firm. Ruder Finn will be seeking a replacement.

She has also previously worked at Axicom U.S. where she served as a strategic counselor to Dell’s VP of global comms. During her 15-year career, Guttman also worked with tech companies including HP and Sun Microsystems.

Roll Call: Phone Hacking Scandal Hits Met PR Chief

Dick Fedorcio, the head of public affairs and internal comms for the Metropolitan Police Service, has been put on leave during an investigation of possible misconduct tied to the News of the World phone hacking scandal. The Independent Police Complaints Commission is looking into the relationship between Fedorcio and Neil Wallis, former NotW assistant editor Neil Wallis. [via The Guardian]

She is just one of the additions to the firm’s services in the corporate responsibility and environmental initiatives areas. RF Binder offers partnership development, brand alignment, and other services in this space.

Sabrina Guttman, who had joined Ruder Finn in May to lead the firm’s new tech and innovation practice, has left the firm. The firm’s VP of comms Katy Kelley told PRWeek that they will eventually look for a replacement global head.

Ruder Finn Launches Finn Partners

Ruder Finn Group has launched a new firm, Finn Partners, that will operate as a separate company within that umbrella group later this year. Peter Finn, co-CEO of Ruder Finn, will continue in that role while also serving as founder and managing partner of the new firm. He will give up that position when Finn Partners separates.

Finn Partners will merge nine Ruder Finn practices in order to provide a full range of services to clients in the arts, technology, consumer, travel/economic development, global issues, and public and corporate affairs areas. The firm will have 160 employees and is projected to generate$25 million in fees the first year. Ruder Finn will keep its focus on the healthcare space with Kathy Bloomgarden retaining her CEO position.

Ruder Finn Launches a Tech Practice

Ruder Finn has launched a technology and innovation practice and brought on Sabrina Guttman as global head of technology and innovation to lead it.

The firm has previously worked with tech clients, but, the firm’s press release says, this practice is “specifically designed for the high-growth technology industry.”

Guttman will be based in Ruder Finn’s San Francisco office, reporting to co-CEO Kathy Bloomgarden. She’ll handle work across the globe. Previously, Guttman was GM of AxiCom North America, handling the company’s business with Dell. Over her 15-year career, she’s also worked with clients including HP and IBM and has held positions at companies including Burson-Marsteller.
