Roll Call: Edelman, Shine America, ESPN, and More

Edelman has announced that Cathy Barry-Ipema has joined its Washington, D.C., Health practice as a senior vice president. Barry-Ipema comes to Edelman after 19 years at The Joint Commission (formerly JCAHO), which accredits and certifies more than 19,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. In a separate release, Edelman also announced that Florence Baranes-Cohen will become the new director general of Edelman France. Baranes-Cohen joins Edelman France after seven years as communications director at the Carrefour Group; she will now be responsible for expanding Edelman’s robust operations within France. (Release)

Vivi Zigler has been named president of Shine 360° and Digital at Shine America, a production company owned by News Corporation. Zigler left her post at NBC Universal in July, but before that had been there since 1993. (FishbowlNY)

Exploring Culture and Cuisine with ‘Saveur’

Saveur publishes nine issues per year, with double issues in January/February, June/July, and August/September. Each issue is packed with information that not only explores international gastronomy, but the cultures behind food from around the world.

“The view of the world’s cuisines that we provide is both egalitarian and wide-ranging,” Beth Kracklauer, deputy editor of the magazine tells mediabistro in the latest “How to Pitch for PR” feature. As an example of the type of stories the magazine is interested in, Kracklauer looks at a recent feature on American BBQ that goes “beyond typical backyard grilling.”

Saveur is wide open for pitches, and looks forward to getting info about new products, restaurants, and books for its annual “Saveur 100″ issue in January/February.
