A Bunch of Celebrities Want You to Vote (Again)

Wow, is it really time to vote again? (Just kidding, we’ve already voted in two primaries this year.)

But what is it with celebrities and voting? Seems like every two or four years we get a new lineup of familiar faces trying to convince us that participating in representative democracy is cool or something.

This year, a few big names showed up to rep a group that couldn’t come up with a better name than “Vote 4 Stuff”: the lineup includes Selena Gomez (whose boyfriend can’t vote because he’s Canadian), Leonardo DiCaprio (who really cares about the Earth), Jonah Hill (who may be trying just a little too hard here) and Tobey Macguire (who was easily the best Spider-Man, sorry Andrew Garfield):

Disney Starlets Go Grunge—How Far Is Too Far?

Say you have a client (or two) who made her name as a squeaky-clean Disney Channel kid, rising from the ranks of the Mouseketeers to land her very own show and an attendant career in pop music. Say that she’s now known for dating the world’s favorite pre-pubescent pop star, but she wants to move into an acting career and needs to prove that she can pull off mature roles?

What if her new breakout movie was set to be directed by Harmony Korine, best known as the screenwriter behind Larry Clark’s notoriously explicit “Kids”, which was one of the most controversial films of the 90’s and one of the few movies that you could never rent at Blockbuster unless you were over 21? What if promos for the movie involved your clients wearing bikinis and engaging in what seems to be some form of bad behavior?

Good move? Positive PR? Well here’s the trailer for “Spring Breakers”, starring former Disney stars Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez. We don’t quite know what to think (except that the movie’s promoters are hoping to stir up some controversy):

Kinda creepy!

Justin Bieber Turns Crisis Into Triumph. Again.

If Justin Bieber should ever decide that being an international pop superstar with millions of fans isn’t really his thing, he can definitely become a crisis PR specialist.

Bieber was involved in a weekend kerfuffle with a paparazzo while he was leaving a California mall with Selena Gomez and the pap caught a bad one from the Biebs. That’ll learn ya.

So while the investigation into the incident continues, Bieber is taking the attention and using it to release a new song, “Die in Your Arms.”

You’ll remember that when Bieber was embroiled in a paternity scandal that he quickly put to rest with an appearance on the Today show and a paternity test. Now he’s using a paparazzi beat down as the launching pad for a new single. And as a reason for both he and Gomez to tell their fans how much they appreciate their support, which is drawing even more support. The song is already making top ten iTunes lists around the world.
