Kim Kardashian Produced E! PR Reality Show “The Spin Crowd” To Premiere on August 22

kim-kardashian-4-320.jpg

News of the Kim Kardashian produced E! network PR reality show “The Spin Crowd,” has been percolating for quite some time, but now it’s official: the show will premier on August 22nd, the network said today.

The show will feature Kardashian’s buddies, Simon Huck and Jonathan Cheban of Command PR. The press release gives a tease of what one can expect:

In the premiere episode, now that Jonathan and Simon have Command PR up and running, they must make certain that the staff they have hired is up to the lofty goal they have set for themselves … complete and total domination of the L.A. celebrity publicity scene. Their first objective is to take on a campaign with popular TV host Mario Lopez. When Jonathan decides that plain-Jane Erika does not look the part of a Hollywood publicist, he orders a smart and savvy new look that befits her new station. However, when he demands lip injections for a fuller pout, Jonathan might have crossed the line.

Needless to day, we’re not so sure this show will portray the PR industry in the best light. Full release after the jump.

Ratings: “SPINdustry” Premiere Crushes “Kell On Earth”

The ratings are in for television’s two PR reality shows, and it’s not looking good so far for fashion PR agency owner Kelly Cutrone.

Her “Kell on Earth” debuted on Bravo to an audience of 226,000 viewers. Episode two spiked at 560,000 viewers, and episode three had 372,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, “SPINdustry” debuted on E! this past Sunday to 2.53 million viewers, and 1.25 million viewers in the 18-34 demo. “Kell On Earth” peaked with 215,000 viewers in the 18-34 demo for episode two.

“SPINdustry” features Kim Kardashian‘s buddies Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck of Command PR. E! director of original programming and series development Jason Sarlanis told PRNewser earlier this month, “If this show performs nicely we’d love to see it expanded into a series.”

Despite the solid ratings, an E! PR rep told PRNewser today that no decisions have been made to continue the show past one episode.

That being said, “Kell On Earth” still has four more episodes yet to air, so who knows what kind of fireworks we’ll see that could boost ratings. Also, “SPINdustry” only had one episode to promote. If E! does decide to produce more episodes, it will be interesting to see if the ratings hold.

Nevertheless, Cheban has been in full promo mode, as almost every post on his Twitter feed as of late has been about the show.

Cutrone is doing her part as well, as she wrote on her Facebook page yesterday:

EVERYONE WRITE INTO BRAV@BRAVOTV (TWITTER)AND TELL THEM YOU LIVE FOR AND LOVE KELL ON EARTH – WATCH TONIGHT AT 10 AS THE AXE SWINGS

All ratings figures from Nielsen Media Research.

E! Exec on Kim Kardashian PR Show: ‘We’d Love To See It Expanded Into A Series’

kim-kardashian-picture-2.jpg

Is Kim Kardashian‘s new PR reality show “The Spindustry” only a one time thing? While E! announced only one episode of the show, to air on February 21st, the network’s director of original programming and series development Jason Sarlanis told PRNewser today, “If this show performs nicely we’d love to see it expanded into a series.”

Sarlanis said Kardashian pitched the idea of the show, since she knows Command PR owners Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck well.

They are “wild and outrageous characters” that are “great for TV,” said Sarlanis.

He thinks “The Spindustry” gives E! “an entire different prism from which we can identify the celebrity world. E! has been home of the red carpet for so long and to have a show devoted to the inner workings of celebrity PR, it’s perfect for us.”

Kim Kardashian Producing PR Documentary ‘The Spindustry’

Reality show star Kim Kardashian is producing a half-hour documentary about celebrity PR, titled, ‘The Spindustry.’

The show will follow Miami-based firm Command PR as it prepares for the launch of a “luxury lollipop.” Command PR is run by Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck, who don’t rep Kardashian, although the three are close friends.

Apparently, in the show, Command PR almost loses a client. From the release:

…the day of the highly-anticipated launch party, Jonathan and Simon are faced with a situation beyond their control and must scramble to find a solution that salvages both [their client's] event and their relationship with [their celebrity talent.]

A rep from Command PR told PRNewser today that the firm doesn’t represent any talent, but does focus on “celebrity branding,” which means they connect celebrities with brands.

Kardashian is producing the show alongside “Real World” creators Bunim/Murray Productions. It will air on E! at 9:30 ET on February 21st.

Yet Another Reality Show About PR? This Time It’s Kim Kardashian

First it was Lizzie Grubman‘s “PoweR Girls.” Then we heard about Kelly Cutrone‘s upcoming show “Kell On Earth.” The latest entry into the PR reality show ring is none other than Kim Kardashian, who will be producing “a new untitled reality TV show about public relations,” according to People.com.

“The proposed series follows Kardashian’s pals, PR gurus Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck of the bicoastal agency Command Public Relations,” writes People.com’s David Caplan. Ok, so right now it’s just a pilot, but it has been shot at an “undisclosed cable network,” that is looking to debut the show sometime in 2010.

Will the “undisclosed cable network” see this project all the way through? Your guess is as good as ours. We’ve actually been following Cheban on Twitter for a few weeks, and the publicist’s Tweets are definitely heavy on the “OMG LOL” style of writing, if you catch our drift.
