NAFE’s Tips for Advancement of Women in the Workplace

Women are a big part of the PR industry workforce (though, last we checked, they still struggle to earn the same as men). During an interview with IPG SVP Judith Harrison over the summer, she expressed her belief that “there’s only going to be more and more women coming up in the ranks of the business.”

This week, the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) published a list of suggestions in Working Mother to help women advance in the workplace. Among the recommendations are mentoring and leadership training programs, initiatives that we’ve heard others across public relations suggest for advancement in the industry as well.

The list accompanies the ”2012 NAFE Top 50 Companies for Executive Women” on which only one PR agency appears.

F-H Announces New President of the Americas, Seven Other Promotions

Fleishman-Hillard has announced eight senior promotions including a couple of moves into newly-created positions.

Jack Modzelewski has been named the firm’s president of the Americas, a job created to collaborate with firm presidents across Canada, the U.S., and Latin America to ensure growth and consistency. Modzelewski joined F-H in 1990 as founding GM of the firm’s Chicago operation.

F-H Makes List of Top Companies for Female Executives

Fleishman-Hillard has made the National Association for Female Executives‘ (NAFE) list of “Top 50 Companies for Executive Women.” Others on the list include Aetna, Johnson & Johnson, IBM, and Wal-Mart. Among those on the list for top non-profits for executive women are the March of Dimes Foundation and the Moffitt Cancer Center.

Cohn & Wolfe Names Michael Bayer EVP

Cohn & Wolfe hired Michael Bayer as Executive Vice President, Corporate Practice Leader and Deputy Managing Director for the agency’s New York office.

Bayer joins from Financial Dynamics where he was a Senior Managing Director and worked with clients including HSBC North America, GMAC, Heineken, Forest Laboratories, AXA Equitable and AIG

He starts April 20th, and will report to Stephanie Marchesi, President, Cohn & Wolfe New York.
