Delicious Will Become Avos

Three cheers! Bookmarking site Delicious is being acquired by YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, who plan to make the site part of a new site called Avos. Yahoo will continue to operate the Delicious site until July 2011. An FAQ on what this means for users is available here. For those who were worried, users will see their accounts transitioned rather than deleted.

ReadWriteWeb says it’s unclear what exactly Avos will look like, but Hurley and Chen are hiring and the offices will be in San Mateo, CA, where they founded YouTube. In a statement, John Matheny, SVP of communs and communities for Yahoo, said “we spoke with numerous parties interested in acquiring the site, and chose Chad and Steve based on their passion and unique vision for Delicious.”
