42West vet Cynthia Swartz, who was a big part of a THR story about that firm earlier this summer, has launched her new agency Strategy PR/Consulting. The firm has a number of clients participating in next week’s Toronto Film Festival including Madonna’s new movie W.E., now showing at the Venice Film Festival to not-so-great reviews. Michael Kupferberg and Elana Zilberman, also from 42West, have joined the new firm. Global networking company NETGEAR selected Weber Shandwick as U.S. AOR after a competitive review. Work began in July. The firm will focus on expanding the brand with consumers and small businesses and building awareness in the “medium enterprise market,” said Weber EVP Tony Hynes in a press release statement.

CTIA – The Wireless Association has chosen Finn Partners, the new Ruder Finn practice, as its PR firm and event partner, promoting the organization and its two events International CTIA Wireless and CTIA Enterprise & Applications. CTIA has not previously worked with Ruder Finn, and had hired smaller firms to work on its public affairs and PR work in the past. Finn Partners EVP and head of the mobile and telecom practice Christine Bock and SVP Chris Fallon will lead the account, which will be handled out of New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Chicago.

ZTE Corporation, a network solutions and telecom equipment company, has chosen Ogilvy PR and its technology practice as its U.S. AOR. According to the press release, ZTE is the fifth largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world. The firm will work with ZTE USA to raise the company’s profile here. The new Ogilvy China practice will also be working on the account.

Florida Agency TransMedia Group Says Local Market Bouncing Back

Boca Raton, Florida based agency TransMedia Group is seeing a rebound in business. Q3 revenues were “up significantly from a year ago and the fourth quarter has gotten off to the strongest start in two years,” the company announced today.

“We’re nearly back to monthly gross revenues in six figures again, which we haven’t seen since 2005,” said TransMedia’s founder Tom Madden in a statement. TransMedia is a private company and did not provide additional detail in terms of results.
