The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has chosen Ruder Finn as its U.S. and international PR firm amid controversy over the country’s new government. NGOs say the government took power in a coup. The Maldives Commission of National Inquiry is looking into the matter and, Ruder Finn tells The Holmes Report, if the body finds that the government took power illegally, it will resign immediately.

WANT!, a mobile photo-sharing app, has hired The Morris + King Company as AOR. The firm will reach out to audiences in the consumer and digital spaces. WANT! allows users to share photos across Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter, and Tumblr.

Evite has hired JS2 Communications for a six-month contract to launch an online initiative next month. The business will be handled out of the L.A. office with help from the New York team.

American Scientific Resources has hired Chicago PR/IR firm Martin E. Janis & Company to raise awareness of the company with North American investors.
