Micro-blogging service Twitter announced $35m in funding today, amid reports that its growth continues to sky-rocket, with 11% of online Americans now using the service.

One of the most frequent questions we get here at PRNewser is in regards to whether Twitter has formal PR representation or if we can connect them to someone who handles partnerships or deals with other companies. It seems everyone wants a piece of the hype.

So, we went ahead and emailed pr@twitter to find out more. Within ten minutes of sending our email, co-founder Biz Stone wrote back. “We don’t work with any PR agencies or consultants. Inbound press is about 75-100 a day and we try to answer as much as possible,” he said.

Asked about any future plans to invest in PR or marketing, given the new funding, Stone said, “no plans just yet.” In regards to the continuous “how will Twitter make money?” debate, Stone referred us to this post on the company’s blog.

How Stone can handle 75-100 daily inbound press inquires while running Twitter is beyond us, however we will say his fast turnaround time to our request was certainly impressive.
